TEMO·1000 aboard Marc Guillemot's MG5

At TEMO, we love great stories about the sea, especially when they combine daring, commitment, and innovation. And that's exactly what our meeting with skipper Marc Guillemot symbolizes: a sailor like no other, and an extraordinary boat, the MG5.

When electrical innovation and responsible navigation come together

When electrical innovation meets a committed sailor, the result is a meaningful collaboration. TEMO France has joined forces with skipper Marc Guillemot, an iconic figure in responsible sailing, by equipping his MG5 catamaran's dinghy with a TEMO·1000 electric motor. This partnership paves the way for high-performance, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly recreational boating.

Marc Guillemot, pioneer of responsible ocean racing

Since the 1980s, Marc Guillemot has been making his mark on every ocean, from the Vendée Globe to the Caribbean. Podium finishes, victories, records: his track record speaks for itself. But what inspires us even more is his vision: proving that performance and energy efficiency can go hand in hand.

His MG5 catamaran is floating proof of this: a 52-foot vessel designed by Barreau-Neuman, conceived for a different kind of sailing experience. Autonomy, comfort, and respect for the environment are not optional extras, but central to the project. It is no coincidence that the boat is named DAZEILAD, which means "alternative" in Breton.

The choice of the TEMO electric motor

In taking this step, Marc Guillemot made a simple choice: to replace the combustion engine in his tender with a TEMO·1000. Lightweight, powerful, and easy to handle, it fits perfectly with the spirit of the MG5. A concrete step toward sailing differently, without noise, without smoke, and with a smile.

An inspiring showcase for the transition

The partnership between TEMO and Marc Guillemot is not limited to a simple technical installation. The MG5 will be present at numerous nautical events, both in France and the Caribbean, where it will become a living showcase for more responsible sailing:

  • In the Caribbean: Caribbean 600, Heineken Regatta, Voiles de Saint Barth;
  • On the Atlantic: Armen Race, Drheam Cup, Rolex Fastnet, Transat ARC.

So many opportunities to show that the yachting of tomorrow already exists, and that it can be high-performance, elegant, and respectful of the planet.
