Sailing is not a race... except against noise

Speed is none of our Business, sailing is!

Chi va piano, va TEMO! Summer is about slowing down, for the sake of pleasure and enjoyment. Sailing isn’t just about getting you from Point A to Point B, it’s about the experience in between.

In the wake of the UNOC (United Nations Conference on the Oceans) and the work being done to raise awareness of the need to preserve the oceans, there is some good news: As boaters, we all have a role to play in this. How? By reducing (even just a little) our sailing speeds.

Speed boats are a major source of disturbance to aquatic species. Even just lowering your speed by one knot, you can limit your impact on marine animals.

At TEMO, we're dedicated to ocean preservation and wildlife conservation. We’ve been working on a comprehensive study on the issue of anthropogenic underwater noise. You can explore the first results of our study here.

How can lower boat speed reduce our impact on biodiversity?

Speed is the key.

And electric motors seem to be an ideal solution.

With more torque and energy efficiency than an internal combustion engine at low speeds, electric propulsion is the ideal boating companion for stop and go, harbor exit and mooring transfer.
In all of these cases, it's not the horsepower that counts, but the ability to produce the energy needed to move the boat forward and maneuver it very simply, almost instantaneously.

On the entire TEMO range, from 450W to 3kW, outboard or pod versions, we optimize for performance in a very specific way: controlled speeds for demanding thrusts. And always with TEMO quality.

So this summer, at sea or on the river, in a sailboat, dinghy or kayak... it doesn't matter how fast the boat is, as long as it's enchanting!

Come onboard with us!
